About the Course
The cuisine of Hawaii has been greatly influenced by Polynesian Voyagers, Europeans, Americans, Koreans, Chinese, Japanese, Filipinos, Puerto Ricans, and Portuguese. During this class students will have a chance to experience different foods influenced by these different cultures. We will be making Poke (an appetizer made of seafood and seasonings), Musubi (a popular snack made of fried Spam upon a bed of rice wrapped in a strip of nori seaweed), Portuguese Sausage Corn Soup, Pineapple Chicken and Macadamia Nut Coconut Pie.
